Some births whisper strength. Others roar with it.

Danielle’s third birth was a quiet triumph—full of peace, power, and answered prayers. But it was also deeply connected to the story that came before it.

I had the honour of photographing the birth of her second child—a beautiful and emotional caesarean birth. That birth held its own kind of sacredness. A different path, yes—but no less fierce, no less miraculous. The way she met her son with grace and courage, even when the plan had to change, was unforgettable.

But deep in her heart, Danielle held onto a desire. A dream of birthing at home. Of doing things differently. Not to “rewrite” the past, but to honour the next chapter.

“I had also wanted to have a home birth, but due to circumstances out of my control with my first two births, this was not possible,” she shared. “So when I fell pregnant with this baby, I was determined to do this the way I had always wanted.”

Navigating the system as a VBAC mother, she had to change providers at 28 weeks. But finally—she found a care team that believed in her body as much as she did.

The result?

A dream fulfilled.

Danielle brought her son, Louie, into the world in the safety and warmth of their family home. She laboured with purpose. She moved through each surge with clarity and calm. She had created the exact space she needed to thrive—one filled with affirmations, scripture, softness, and people who knew just how to support her.

“So much of birth is a mental game,” Danielle reflected. “I knew I wanted my birth space to feel safe and inviting, I knew the words I needed to hear to keep me going, and I knew who I wanted around me to carry me through.”

And it was beautiful.

“It was everything and more that I prayed for… The only surprises were his quick exit haha and how everything just felt so easy and natural.”

The moment she lifted Louie into her arms was pure awe. A mix of disbelief and overwhelming joy.

“I just couldn’t believe I did it—and that it was over so quick!”

And of course, there was her husband’s classic response. If you’ve ever seen birth through a dad’s eyes, you’ll know there’s nothing quite like those unfiltered reactions. When he realised they had a baby boy after ten months of waiting, his expression said it all—shock, elation, and sheer delight. One of my favourite frames from the day.

“My favourite is his reaction to finding out Louie was a boy… always so hilarious, real, and raw.”

Danielle’s journey reminds us that no two births are the same—and yet every single one is powerful, valid, and worthy of being remembered. Her birth photos from her second son still bring her to tears. Not because everything went to plan—but because they show their strength, their capacity, and their story.

“I still look at those photos in awe of myself and the experience… I knew I wanted this birth documented too—as a reminder that I can do hard things.”

Danielle and Jeremiah, thank you for allowing me into the most vulnerable, glorious moments of your parenthood story—not just once, but twice. Your journey is a testimony of faith, resilience, and deep trust. It’s an honour to be the one who gets to help you hold those moments.

Scripture that carried her through:
“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” — 1 Corinthians 13:7

Her reminder to every mama:
“Invest in life’s biggest moments—because memories fade, but having them immortalised makes our stories that much richer.”
